About the Artist

Terri Grady is a watercolor artist whose works are in collections all over the world.  Born in 1954 into a military family, Terri grew up moving from base to base.  Later she lived with her husband and two children in the Philippines and Indonesia, then the UK, and the Middle East after the children left home.  Travels have taken her to many other places around the globe.  The sights and cultures she experienced have influenced her choice of subjects.  She has exhibited in the US, UK, and Indonesia.  Her work has been influenced by Mary Forester, Jean Haines, Kate Osborne, Hazel Soan and Angela Fehr.  Terri currently resides with her husband in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA.  She loves sharing the excitement of watercolor with others, particularly her 5 grandchildren.  

Why I do what I do:

Light! Color! Texture!  As I look at the world these are the elements that excite me.  Exploring the beauty of creation or a new culture, I feel compelled to put brush to paper and attempt to capture some essence of what I see and feel.  I paint with watercolor because I love the transparency, the mystery of combining paint and water, putting it to paper and watching what happens.  It is scary, exciting, and challenging!  The effects I get cannot be reproduced the exact way twice.  There are so many variables in the process, making each painting unique.   When I paint, I feel I am the person God created me to be. It is more than creative expression.  It is a form of worship.
